**new website for Ben's updates**
On February 2, 2025, Ben was the victim of an unprovoked and senseless attack in Wash Park, Denver.

Ben was waiting for friends in the park when he was shot from behind by an individual who, according to authorities, had previously been involved in a physical and verbal altercation with another person. Without any warning or interaction, Ben was struck by a bullet that entered through the back right side of his neck, traveled through the right side of his jaw, and exited through his chin.

Immediately following the incident, bystanders acted quickly to apply pressure to his wound before emergency responders arrived. He was rushed to Denver Health Emergency Room, where he was then admitted to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit for urgent evaluation. A CT scan confirmed the severity of the injuries, but ruled out the immediate need for emergency surgery.

In what can only be described as a miracle, it narrowly missed critical structures, including his trachea, carotid artery, spinal cord, and essential nerves. However, the impact caused severe trauma, shattering the right side of his jaw and slightly damaging his vertebrae at C1 and C2 along with a slight nick on his vertebral artery. The visible impact on his face is minimal, given that the bullet traveled in a way that left his facial structure largely intact on the surface.

While the road ahead is uncertain, we are incredibly grateful that Ben has not suffered major brain, spinal, or nerve damage. His resilience, along with the swift actions of those who aided him and the care of his medical team, have been nothing short of remarkable.
